Happy New Year! Would like to take a moment to point you towards an opinion I wrote for Archinect on what’s a possible future for U.S. cities in the midst of the economic crisis. Granted, the current economic panorama is slowly unfolding (unraveling!), and making predictions is dicey. I treated mine as a mixture of wishful thinking and predicting. The article is called “Foreclosing Cities” and it’s about cities expanding their boundaries to incorporate current enclaves. All of the 2009 Predictions are a wonderful treat. I recommend reading especially ones by Enrique Ramirez, Kazys Varnelis, Mimi Zeiger, Nick Sowers, and Orhan Ayücce.
